    Wardrobe Thoughts: January-June

Good afternoon, everyone! Before I begin, I should worn you all that this is going to be a very long post, and (most likely) one that is interesting only to me! For quite a while, I have been trying to be more intentional with what I wear and what clothes I buy. I wrote a blog post a few weeks back about my best and worst purchases so far this year, and I wanted to expand a little further on that subject and talk about Stylebook, the app I use to track my wardrobe, and just some general thoughts and goals I have for my wardrobe for the rest of…

    Stripes Forever

Good morning! It has been over a week since I have posted, and because of that, I had a variety of different outfits to pick from when choosing what to post. I had initially wanted to do a post on an outfit I showed on Instagram a few Saturdays ago, but unfortunately, the only picture I really liked out of the ones we took was the one I posted on Instagram (FYI, we post almost all of our outfits on Instagram first, so if you would like to see more outfits, or just more recent outfits, feel free to follow us there!), and for whatever reason, WordPress will not upload…

“A Time to Rend, and a Time to Sew”

Hello all, You might be wondering why in the world I chose that title, but the only other Bible verse that had the word “sew” in it was Ezekiel 13:18 which says, “…Thus saith the Lord God: Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes….” When I get into the story behind this outfit/dress, you’ll understand why I didn’t pick that verse as the title. Typically, I don’t sew anyway; but I certainly don’t plan on sewing any pillows to my armholes so you don’t have to worry about seeing that blog post float across your screen anytime soon. I do love Ecclesiastes though, so I’m already excited…

    Bless You, Van Heusen

Hello all, It’s been a minute since I’ve posted, so I figured I should let you all know I’m still alive. Actually, I’m surprised I’m still here and kicking after the most unfortunate bout of food poisoning I had this past week. Lesson learned- don’t eat re-heated clam strips. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but my stomach is still holding a grudge. Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful week and even better weekend. I know this won’t sound weird to anyone else except Jo, but these photos were actually taken by my younger brother. I begged him for some quick photos, and we were…

Thrifting Thursday & Dressing Room Try-ons, Vol. 2

Happy Thursday, everyone! Today, I have a round up of my recent thrifting and retail adventures. Out of all the things I liked and/or tried on, I succeeded in buying only three things for a grand total of $17. Are you proud of me yet? No? Let’s see if we can change that. First up, some odds and ends from some various thrift stores. Last Friday, I had some free time in between my grocery deliveries, so I stopped by one of my favorite Goodwills. I did not really need anything other than a striped boatneck t-shirt, but I was curious to see if their selection was as good as…

    Best & Worst Purchases: January-May 2018

Good morning, everyone! As someone who mostly shops in thrift and consignment stores, I think it can be really easy to excuse a lot of purchases because they were “only $4!” or “so much cheaper than buying retail,” but to be honest, I really like clothes and shopping, and I really need to be more accountable to myself. I am tossing around the idea of doing a roundup of what I buy every month, but for now, here is a quick look at my hits and misses from the first part of this year! We’ll start with misses, in no particular order: White denim moto jacket, Ralph Lauren, Cost: $8.…

I wore this modest casual outfit on a spontaneous date night with my husband to Red Robin (all together now…”Yummmmm!”) after I heard on the news that they were giving away free meals to teachers as a summer promotion. While burgers are not my favorite food category by any means, I am married to a burger enthusiast, so we decided that he would get the free burger and fries, and…

    Cute as a Button

Hello all, Jo gave a fabulous review last week of the Spencer Dress by Cleo Madison, so now it’s my turn. If you didn’t read Jo’s review (though you really should) and don’t know what Cleo Madison is, it is an online boutique for modest clothing. Jo and I picked this dress out over a Starbucks date, and I’m so glad that we ended up with the Spencer Dress. Now, I’m going to be completely honest on this post so please fasten your seat belt. *Drum Roll* I love this dress. I admit- I was wary at first, but I think the main reason for that was that it…

Unfortunately for my ego, no one came up to me in Sunday School or church last week and addressed me as Your Highness or asked how working with Jimmy Stewart was! Actually, that was probably a good thing for my ego; goodness knows my head gets big enough on its own!) I tend to go either vintage or…

As you can tell, we actually had time to take proper outfit photos on this day! The weather forecast was quite gloomy, with thunderstorms predicted all afternoon, but thankfully, they held off until after we took pictures. We were both quite glad, both because we need to take more pictures of our casual outfits, and because we actually liked our outfits that…
